As an affiliated member of LASA, the Hills LAC is bound by the association policies and procedures. The LASA guidelines are non-binding but are used to inform our own centre decisions and activities. These may also be viewed on the LASA website.
Further, the club is also bound by the policies and guidelines issued by Little Athletics Australia.
All Hills LAC administrators, officials, coaches, parents, and athletes are to obide by the LASA Code of Behaviour.
Safety
Like all sports, if not treated with respect, accidents can happen. Please observe the following basic rules:
• All equipment is only to be used under supervision
• Stay out of the throwing areas – javelin, discus and shot put (denoted by bunting)
• Ensure that the track is clear before crossing it
• Do not allow toddlers to wander on the oval during competition
• No children are to enter the equipment shed unless supervised by an adult
• Only one athlete has a throwing implement or is on the runway at any one time
• All competitors stand well behind the athlete about to throw
• All throws are into the sector
• Athletes must not run over the hurdles in the wrong direction
• Shots, discuses and javelins must be carried back not thrown
• Children must stay clear of the barbeque and respect the marked off areas

Weather
Bad Weather and Heavy Rain
Sunday morning meetings at Heathfield will RARELY be cancelled due to inclement weather; a modified program will be run. Meetings will be cancelled due to Thunderstorm activity. Please note that it is up to parents and athletes to decide if they want to compete in the rain.
Hot Weather
Sunday meetings will commence at 8.00am when the Bureau of Meteorology forecast at 6:00pm on the Saturday for the Sunday is 38⁰C or above at Heathfield. Coaching will be cancelled when the Bureau of Meteorology forecast at 6:00pm on the Monday for the Tuesday is 38⁰C or above at Heathfield.
No Smoking
Hills LAC endorses a general no smoking policy. There is no smoking allowed anywhere on near the athletes and on Department of Education property. Non-compliance of this policy will result in the offending persons being asked to refrain from smoking in the designated Smoke Free Areas.
No Dogs
Please leave your dogs at home or with a friend.
Insurance
All registered athletes and parents are covered by the Association insurance policy when taking part in events organised by Hills LAC.
Honan are the national insurance broker and details of the insurance cover, policy wording, claims portal and certificates of currency can be found on their Little Athletics-specific website, honansport.com.au
Please note that insurance coverage for Personal Injury can only be claimed if the accident occurs during Association and Centre endorsed Events and at Coaching Sessions conducted by the Hills LAC, the member is registered with or at Association conducted Clinics or Coaching Sessions.
Should Parents organise private coaching or coaching sessions outside those sessions advertised in Centre programs and additional meets conducted or jointly by Centres or as mentioned above, the injury is between the parents and coach not the Centre.
