Mark Elsworthy Excellence in Service Award

This award is named in honor of Mark Elsworthy as recognition for Mark's service to HLAC for over 10 years.

At the time of the award, Mark had served on the committee for over 8 years and was instrumental in obtaining the grants from Clubs SA to fund the purchases of the outside track electronic finishing gates and the equipment trailer. As commented by the President, Stephen Morris, when presenting the award:

".... to recognise the work Mark has performed for the club over his time, doing the little things that most people do not notice such as poisoning the grass to maintain the track line, taking the empty cans to the recycle depot, checking and inserting metal plugs into the oval to mark the start and finish points on the track, disposing the old refrigerator, repairing equipment such as the shelf in the equipment trailer or bolts in the hurdles, refurbishing the podium, shopping around to get the best deal on line marking paint, the list goes on. Mark is first onsite at 7am and last to leave (at times staying on further to get sort out some issue with the track or equipment). Mark is to go to person to get the job done, whether it is the need for a timekeeper, a starter, manning the BBQ, handing out lane numbers, clearing the bush for the cross country track – and all this at the expense of seeing one of the best athletes perform week to week."

This award will be presented to a volunteer parent/guardian who provides a significant contribution to the club. This will only be awarded by the committee when they deem that there has been a volunteer whose service to the club is deemed to have gone above and beyond all expectation, this is not an annual award.
